This week on GLAAD's video series, GLAAD: All Access, host Claire Pires interviewed Ugandan LGBT advocate Frank Mugisha about the current state of LGBT people in Uganda. Pires spoke with Mugisha on March 2nd at the New York private school Riverdale Country School, where he spoke to students after being awarded the Jolli Humanitarian Award

Mugisha, who won the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award in 2011, spoke openly in the interview about how the death of his friend and mentor David Kato motivates him, who he feels creates the public perception of LGBT people in Uganda, and how viewers can help him.

GLAAD worked closely with Mugisha as part of the team effort to challenge the anti-gay bill in Uganda. In October, Pires also interviewed fellow Ugandan LGBT advocate Clare Byarugaba

This interview is apart of GLAAD's Global Voices program, which aims to amplify the voices of LGBT people internationally.

GLAAD's video series, GLAAD: All Access, features interviews with newsmakers, hit-makers, and people making a difference. Watch GLAAD's interview here:
